October 2020 - Anne Frank Remembered

By unanimous opinion, last month's read, Kane and Abel, was a book club favorite! I did have a few people ask me why I chose such an old (1979) book for last month’s choice, and my thoughts were that it was such an excellent book, and if you haven’t read it yet, then it was new to you! Just because a book is old, doesn’t mean it isn’t good!

Another interesting thing that we learned this month is just how many people are actually following our book club. We discovered that even though the in-person book club meetings usually have anywhere from 6-12 regular attendees, there is quite a large following who check the website, call to ask or email us regarding what the current month’s book selection is. We are very happy to announce that we have counted just over 80 regular book club followers both locally and around the country who read along with us! That’s so exciting! A special thank you to all of our regulars who show up faithfully every month as well as a  shout out to all of our followers from afar! 

This month’s book is another personal favorite. I bought the book several years ago when visiting the Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam. It was so interesting to read from an adult's point of view about the Frank family going into hiding and how it was to live under German occupation in Amsterdam, while trying to survive and secretly care for 8 people in hiding. I hope you find it a fascinating as I did!
