Each month, we choose a new book written by a European author or taking place in Europe.
We've read books about real people who have moved to France and write about the challenges of integrating oneself into a totally different culture, historical fiction books (think WWII-era Europe), and lighter (but still entertaining) fiction that takes place in Italy or England.
Some of our readers travel frequently to Europe and some are armchair travelers, but we hope that our book club will be an entertaining trip to your favorite cities, a place to engage in lively discussions, and perhaps make some new friends!
If you can't make the meetings in person, that's okay! You can still follow along and read with us as we travel to new places together. We hope you enjoy the journey!
For December's meeting, we are reading Jacqueline in Paris by Ann Mah. For November's meeting, we are reading Cassoulet Confessions: Food, France, Family and the Stew That Saved My Soul by Sylvie Bigar.
For October's meeting, we are reading Bruno, Chief of Police: A Novel of the French Countryside by Martin Walker, the first installment in the delightful, internationally acclaimed series featuring Chief of Police Bruno.
This month I am choosing an older book, Kane and Abel, by one of my favorite authors, Jeffrey Archer. This also happens to be a long time favorite book of mine. I hope you all like it as much as I did!
This month's book, The Woman I Was Before, is a story about the things we hide from those closest to us - and the terrible consequences that keeping those secrets can have. It’s hard to out down, and I hope you all enjoy it!
I have chosen The Diplomat’s Wife by Pam Jenoff as this month’s book. The book revisits a character from a previous book we have read but takes place post-World War II and moves us from France over to Poland.
